Our Future

Our organization goals and strategies parallel our goals and strategies for the people we employ:
Start small. Over time, gain experience and grow. Together, we can achieve sustainable independence.
Nothing ground-breaking. It’s simple, but we feel this is the most effective way to move forward.

Here is how we, as an organization, plan to start small, gain experience, grow and achieve sustainable independence:

Humble beginnings - outreach and fundraisers

Years 2020 - 2025
The first years of Abermor’s growth will focus on:

  1. Developing a working relationship with organizations in the area that are cornerstones of the disabled community. Partners such as UCP, OCA, Lighthouse Works, UCF, North Florida School of Special Education, etc. We look to them to supply our workforce and provide guidance in necessary accommodations.

  2. Initiate our Outreach and Employment program. Here, we will put our capable people to work in small numbers. Abermor will take part in street fairs, farmers markets, and concession stands all across Central Florida. This will give us the chance to become a recognized brand, discover solutions to unforeseen operational challenges, and, most importantly, fulfil our promise of providing job experience to the challenged community. All of this is executed in a small, safe environment.

  3. Continuing our work producing virtual and in-person fundraisers. Our past events were hugely successful and we want to keep the momentum moving ahead with virtual game nights and events, 5K marathons, drive-in movies, outdoor markets, and the apex: Sounstage 28. One hundred percent of our fundraising efforts go towards creating new opportunities.

Abermor Hollow — Agricultural Urbanism

Through Agricultural Urbanism, Abermor Hollow will be our expansion into food production and housing for our workers. By doing this, we continue to vary our job offerings, provide an inclusive place to live and work, and strengthen our business for the future. This expansion would create a farm-to-table supply chain that would reduce the costs of healthy eating choices in our community.

The farm will be structured around permaculture and biodynamic farming techniques that will produce food in a natural, organic matter. We want to grow various perennial crops; working together in a designed system that mimics a natural ecosystem. Additionally, we strive to raise animals in a way that helps replenish soil fertility and enhance plant growth. We aim to create a resilient ecosystem that benefits us and other living organisms.

Our agricultural oasis doesn’t only yield fruit, herbs and vegetables! Wool, cotton, dairy, honey, fine carpentry, is just scratching the surface of possibility. We want life here to be varied, fulfilling, and rewarding.

To ensure Abermor Hollow’s stability, we want to invite the public into our world to experience what an assessable and inclusive life looks like. Additional acreage will provide a lush and whimsical destination reflecting old world charm to host the most elegant events, shopping, craft fairs, farmers markets and more. This inclusive venue and landscape offer even more unique job opportunities for the disabled community!

The restaurant group

The next phase would launch the Abermor Restaurant Group with our own food service brick-and-mortar locations. Instead of farm-to-table…we want to bring the farm to YOU. Each location will be supplied with the natural, organic produce right from Abermor Hallow.

Our first location will follow the same, overall structure: Start small, learn, grow, become independent. Once we gain our footing with our first location and concept, we will be able introduce a new location within Central Florida. This new location will have a completely new concept, design aesthetic, food offering and staffing. To remain relevant and sustainable, we must: be flexible, offer varied job opportunities, diversify our business portfolio and respond to the community needs. Over 25 new location concepts have already been developed to accommodate the ever-changing market and we stand ready to implement any one of them to fit the location.

As before, one hundred percent of our income and donations will go to providing independence to our employees and creating new opportunities to future employees.

The Millstone - refined production

Bread
Pasta

Raw materials from Abermor Hollow will all need to be processed. From basic grains for breads, pastries, and pastas to textiles and crafts. A central location to process these goods is needed to make them ready for retail.

The Millstone is the next phase! Here, breads, pastries, threads and fabrics, chesses, candles, soaps, etc., will all be made daily and distributed directly to our restaurants and markets. The Millstone will also be equipped with a storefront, where our loyal guests and employees can purchase the fresh goods and products.
